ON DEMAND: BEST PRACTICES FOR SUPPORTING LGBTQ YOUTH

Adults must be proactive in creating a culture that respects and values all students and fosters an understanding of sexual orientation, gender identity, and expression within their community. Participants will learn concrete strategies for creating a safer and more affirming environment for LGBTQ students. Risk factors and best practices will be discussed, as well as how to implement relevant policy guidelines.

This webinar focuses on learning how to help children manage their feelings while allowing them the space to express their emotions. This webinar will go over protective factors in mental health and ways to help children who are showing signs of mental health concerns.

Often times, decisions are made about and for young people without the decision makers fully understanding the experiences and desires of the young people themselves.

During this session, youth from Baltimore City schools will share their experiences and dreams as young people navigating a world of needs, dreams, and opportunities. Be prepared to challenge your perspective
on youth needs.

ON DEMAND: Mentoring with Mental Health in Mind

This session will teach participants how to recognize mental health issues and understand and respond to
signs of mental health episodes (crisis and non-crisis). Participants will also learn to recognize potential risk factors and warning signs surrounding psychosis, self-injury/harm, AD/HD, substance use,
depression, anxiety and more.

ON DEMAND: Understanding Trauma and the Impact on Mentees 

This training outlines the impact that trauma has on young people’s emotional, mental, physical and social well-being. We touch briefly on the effects on the brain and development. This course offers an emphasis on the behavior that young people may demonstrate as a result of the trauma they have experienced and how to respond appropriately, effectively and safely to promote a trauma informed environment. We can offer Maryland social worker CEUs for this training.
