Y Head Start and Early Head Start in Anne Arundel County offers exceptional programming to pregnant mothers, infants and toddlers, and children ages 3-5 -- all at no cost! We help prepare your entire family for success in school and life.
All children are welcome in our inclusive learning environment, including those with diverse abilities, in foster care, or are experiencing homelessness.
A Y family membership is also included with enrollment so your family can participate in healthy activity and fun at the Y!

TO GET STARTED: Complete the PRE-REGISTRATION APPLICATION to determine eligibility for the Head Start program. A Y Family Service Advocate or Family Development Specialist will reach out to you for more information and/or to complete your enrollment.
Y Early Head Start Programs
Center-based Program
- Infants - toddlers up to age 3
- 8:30am-3pm, Monday-Friday, Year-round program
- Small class sizes
- Proven curriculum for early learning and development
- Individualized learning experiences and social/emotional development
- Safe, nurturing environment led by qualified teachers who care about children
Home-based Program
- Pregnant women and children up to age 3
- 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday, Year-round program
- Individualized learning experiences and social/emotional development
- Weekly at-home visits by a teacher/family specialist who supports and engages parents through intentional parent-child interactions and educational activities
Prenatal and parenting education - Proven curriculum focusing on early childhood learning and development
- Social events with other Y Early Head Start home-based families
Y Head Start Program
- Children ages 3-5
- 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday, September-June
- Small class sizes; proven curriculum focusing on school readiness
- Individualized learning experiences and social/emotional development
- Nutritious meals: breakfast, lunch and snack
- On-site IEP services for children with disabilities
- Modern classrooms, tablets, smart computers, interactive displays
