Y Head Start and Early Head Start in Anne Arundel County offers exceptional programming to pregnant mothers, infants and toddlers, and children ages 3-5 -- all at no cost! We help prepare your entire family for success in school and life.

All children are welcome in our learning environment.

A Y family membership is also included with enrollment so your family can participate in healthy activity and fun at the Y!

TO GET STARTED: Complete the PRE-REGISTRATION APPLICATION to determine eligibility for the Head Start program. A Y Family Service Advocate or Family Development Specialist will reach out to you for more information and/or to complete your enrollment.

Y EARLY HEAD START PROGRAMS

Center-based Program

  • Infants - toddlers up to age 3
  • 8:30am-3pm, Monday-Friday, Year-round program
  • Small class sizes
  • Proven curriculum for early learning and development
  • Individualized learning experiences and social/emotional development
  • Safe, nurturing environment led by qualified teachers who care about children

Home-based Program

  • Pregnant women and children up to age 3
  • Year-round program with individualized learning experiences
  • Weekly at-home visits by a teacher/family specialist who supports and engages parents through intentional parent-child interactions and educational activities
  • Prenatal and parenting education
  • Proven curriculum focusing on early childhood learning and development
  • Social events with other Y Early Head Start home-based families

Y HEAD START PROGRAM

  • Children ages 3-5
  • 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday, September-June
  • Small class sizes; proven curriculum focusing on school readiness
  • Individualized learning experiences and social/emotional development
  • Nutritious meals: breakfast, lunch and snack
  • On-site IEP services for children with disabilities
  • Modern classrooms, tablets, smart computers, interactive displays
  • Safe, nurturing environment led by highly qualified teachers
