Monday Mission Update: "Doing well by doing good"

March 25, 2019

If the phrase "doing well by doing good" bears out, then the folks at BGE Home and Constellation Energy should have an awesome year! In partnership with Business Volunteers Maryland and the Y, dozens of BGE Home and Constellation Energy employees recently closed their laptops and opened up bike assembly tool kits to assemble 72 gorgeous new bikes for Y kids in Baltimore City!

The bikes were delivered to the Druid Hill Y and, to assure the kids not only have fun on the bikes but do so safely, they will be distributed on Healthy Kids Day this April during a bike safety event we are planning in conjunction with a local bike shop.

Hats off to Eric Somerville, Executive Director, Volunteerism and Community Engagement, for spearheading this initiative for the Y and to Jayson Green, Executive Director of the Druid Hill Y for so ably representing us at the event.

With summer just around the corner, there are many great corporate volunteer opportunities across the region, helping to prepare the Y’s camp locations for the annual onslaught of kids! Y Association Board Member Dave Vahos and his finance team from BGE already have a date on the calendar to help with Y Camp Puh'tok.

What about you? Contact Eric Somerville at ericsomerville@ymaryland.org to sign up for a day of rejuvenating, hands-on fun and help some Y kids have a summer to remember!

All the best,

John
