Monday Mission Update: Associates Who Build Confidence in Others

"Great experience for my son who was low confidence in his athletic abilities. Since the class was so small he got really great coaching and learned enough to build confidence."

"My daughter didn't like getting her face wet. Her teacher was able to give her confidence so she was able to tolerate her face wet."

"I love the Y Head Start program because it caters to my child and they really, really care about my child's well-being, education and growth.  If I could keep my child there for another year, I would.  They are a very good, caring group of people."

"Ms. Eileen is awesome and really pushes the kids to do their best.”

While I’ve obviously plucked these comments out from the many we receive, they aren’t in any way unusual or unique. Across all of the Y’s programs and locations, Y associates are giving kids of all ages and stages the gift of confidence and the sense of agency that stems from that. Of all the many things children might learn in their lives, none is more lasting or foundational than feeling confident and able, and no one is better at it than the Y. You can take that to the bank! After all, that is really what the phrase in our mission statement “.... dedicated to developing the full potential of every individual...." is all about.

Thanks to all of the Y’s over 3,000 associates who build confidence in people young and old; to make them feel believed in and valued. I appreciate each and every one of you. Not only does your hard work have an enormous impact on each individual we encounter, it underscores the Y’s unique role in building a sense of shared community confidence and purpose.

All the best,

John
