Y ASSOCIATE OPPORTUNITIES

Resources for Y Associates with Family in Ukraine

Resources for Y associates with family in Ukraine

The YMCA World Service is coordinating resources for families in Ukraine and neighboring countries impacted by the war. Given how fast things are moving in Ukraine, the plans are being formed as we speak, but likely resources at Ys in Europe may include food distribution, shelter and other basic supports. If you have family impacted by the war and wish to be connected to YMCA World Service, please email HR@ymaryland.org.

Associate Engagement: We Want to Hear from YOU!

Associate Engagement

We will be launching our second Y associate survey from March 28 - April 11. The purpose of this survey is to measure associate engagement: happiness, satisfaction and how you feel about working for the Y, and then put what we learn into action for you. We value you and want to hear your voice.

The survey will be 100% confidential. Your responses will only be presented as part of an aggregate with all other responses and will not be specifically identifiable to you in any way.

On March 28, you will receive an email from "Gallup <support@mail.gallup.com" (SEE EXAMPLE) with a link to complete the survey. Your email is specific to you so please do not forward it to another colleague.

Our end goal is to work with you to create the happiest, most fulfilling and sought after workplace in Maryland. We have work to do to get there and it all starts with you!

Thank you in advance for your participation, ideas and honest feedback. We appreciate you and all that you do for the Y and the communities we serve.

OUR WORK TOGETHER

Dear Colleagues,

I’m taking the opportunity today to fill in for our CEO John Hoey, who is on a much needed vacation with his family.

As the temperature outside is rising and COVID cases are thankfully dropping, we see so many hopeful and exciting signs of progress around our Y. Our family centers are buzzing with activity, our early childhood and youth programs are doing amazing work serving children and families throughout central Maryland, and participation in our programs continues to steadily increase. In fact, as we look towards the summer, camp enrollment is higher than it has ever been at this time of year.

While our existing work continues to recover and thrive, we have also found many new ways to rise to meet the needs of our communities. Among many other things, we have seen significant expansion of our terrific work in Community Schools. We are forming new partnerships to expand our services and reach. And in our efforts to address issues of food insecurity, we have recently crossed the threshold of over a million meals served since the beginning of the pandemic.

I am continually amazed by the agility and ability of our organization to multitask, keeping one eye firmly trained on meeting immediate community needs while also looking and pushing ahead to what’s next, challenging ourselves to keep evolving and adapting as circumstances and needs change.

At the heart of all of this is our extraordinary team of Y associates who exemplify the kind of “can-do” attitude and positive spirit which is core to our mission. As we acknowledge the two-year anniversary of the start of the pandemic- and all of the challenges this has brought to us- I’m incredibly grateful to be part of a team that has relentlessly chosen to rise up, instead of give up.

Thank you for all you do to help keep our community strong.

All the best,

Chip Warner signature
