Maryland State Public Schools currently use the Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR) Assessment to measure the school-readiness level of upcoming kindergartners. The Maryland State average for children fully ready to enter kindergarten is 82%. Children enrolled in Y Preschool routinely assess at, or more often, above state averages across all school-readiness measures!

Our preschool center is locally and nationally accredited through the Maryland State Department of Education, Maryland Excels, and the National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA).

Meeting the Needs of Young Families from A to Z

From infants to pre-K to school-age, we offer quality programs for every stage of early childhood education and development.

• Full-time infant and toddler program for ages 6 weeks to 24 months
• Full-time (4-5 days/week) preschool for ages 2-5
• Part-time (2-3 days/week) preschool for ages 2-5
• Half-day pre-k (M-F 8:30am - 12pm) for ages 3-5
• Before & After School Enrichment for ages 5-12, serving students in the Church Creek Elementary school district

Clear, Effective and Timely Two-Way Communication

Connecting with our families is a top priority. By having a strong home and school communication system, we are setting our students up for success and providing multiple engagement opportunities for our families. 

We welcome parent visits and provide communication touch points with teachers and the preschool director via phone and email.

Daily Reports

Each day parents receive a detailed review about their child’s day consisting of electronic daily reports from your child’s teacher outlining your child’s activities, routines, and care including new skills learned, classroom activities, special accomplishments, and photos of your child's day (via Tadpoles - see below). 

Monthly Newsletters

Each month a newsletter, snack menu and home learning calendar will be emailed to you, posted on our Y Preschool Riverside Facebook page, and posted in your child’s classroom. These communications have upcoming event information as well as policy updates.

Tadpoles

Tadpoles is a communication system that allows us to securely send photos and videos of your child to you, providing you with a glimpse into your child’s day! Teachers also use Tadpoles to create the daily reports for each child. All photos, videos, and daily reports are emailed to you directly and you can also access them via the free Tadpoles Parent app, available on Apple and Android devices, or online at www.tadpoles.com.

From your Tadpoles Parent Account, you will be able to enter in morning drop off notes for your child’s teachers, mark your child absent, and/or add any additional notes to be communicated to the preschool.

All information captured within Tadpoles is considered private communication between the preschool and our families. No personal information is shared with any external parties and as a parent, you will only receive information specifically about your child. The confidentiality of all information is maintained through the security features of the Tadpoles software.

Safety and Emergency Preparedness

During drop-off and pick-up times, all parents are required to sign their child in and out every day.

We have an extensive emergency preparedness plan including local and non-local evacuation plans, as well as shelter in place (lock down) plans. Drills are regularly implemented to practice our emergency routines for fire, weather emergencies, chemical emergencies (local chemical spill), criminal activity in the area, and other situations.

The first step in the enrollment process is to set up a tour and meet directly with the Preschool Director, Jessica Gobble-Reil. 

During the tour, you will be provided with the information you need to determine if our program is right for your child and family. You will visit the classrooms, meet the teachers and learn about our daily routines, our curriculum, and our goals and expectations. The tour is the first step in establishing a strong partnership for your child's success.
