Michika Karim, Preschool Director

Hello! My name is Michika Karim and I am the Preschool Director at Y Preschool at UMBC. I have over 25 years of experience in early childhood education and I firmly believe early learning is a vital part of youth development. I take great pride in being part of a young child's growth and development and supporting families, because parents are the first teachers.

Being on a university campus presents a unique opportunity and an environment of learning and discovery all around us. Our program serves children and families from the community at large, as well as UMBC faculty, staff and students. One of my favorite activities is to organize events that encourage engagement between families, children, and Y associates. I enjoy creating a welcoming atmosphere to bring our community together.
