COMMUNITY COMMENTS
Community Comments

The good work you do doesn't go unnoticed. Enjoy reading these real comments from our Y community and soak in the praise!

Lydia, Y Preschool at UMBC
"The teachers are amazing! They are very engaged with all of the children and provide a very wholesome learning experience."

Vastie, The Y Swim Center in Randallstown
"The associates and instructors are very friendly and helpful. I like the different activities the Y has to keep everyone engaged. There are always events where you can volunteer or just attend and have fun. I always tell people about my Y in Randallstown."

Camden, Y Before & After School Enrichment, Jacobsville Elem. at the Y in Pasadena
“I could not survive without my Y! I am a single mom and the Y has provided me with support on so many levels. My family has been through a rough few years and having the before and after program has enabled me to continue working a full-time job and also give me peace of mind that my child is in a safe place after school. I am just now starting to utilize the membership, stay and play and all the other benefits that come along with being a member. There's even a Parent's Night Out that gives me an opportunity to have a much needed break. Summer camps are a necessity and the Y has such good options. My children enjoy being members and I am so thankful to have a Y in my community."

Azyiah, Y Head Start in Baltimore City, Dickey Hill Site
"Friendly associates. Great teachers who are patient with children. The ease of getting to and from. Great first impression of a school environment for my child before she starts Pre-K."

OUR WORK TOGETHER

Dear Colleagues,

In the course of our busy and demanding work lives, it can be easy to lose sight of the true impact we are having on others’ lives and the immense value of our work together. The good news is that we really don’t have to look far to see and understand how we’re impacting people and their families. The statements below from Listen 360, our customer satisfaction tool, represent just a tiny fraction of the comments we receive and tell us very clearly that our strategy of focusing on intentionally building community in everything we do is working and noticed.

Take a look:

  • “The best place for seniors to gather, exercise, swim and be part of a great family. Competes with Disneyland as the friendliest place on earth!”

  • “I love the sense of community. I feel welcomed from the moment I walk through the door.”

  • “I like everything about the Y. It is a very good program and great support for our children and our family.”

  • “They are all very kind and helpful. The site manager is especially helpful. I really appreciate their patience and care they show my child.”

Whether it’s the feeling of belonging emanating from a kind greeting upon entering a Y family center, the attentive nature of a preschool teacher, the sense of fun created by an after school specialist, the focus on building a series of vitally-needed programs within a community school, or the tight-knit feeling that develops over time when a group of seniors participate in a water aerobics class with a supportive instructor, our work at the Y is what allows people, families and communities to thrive.

Communities aren’t built on their own. It takes intentionality and a clear commitment. That’s our work together, and it’s unbelievably important!

Thanks for everything you do.

All the best,

John Hoey
