At the Y, you can dance, twirl and tap your way to fun! Classes, ages and availability vary by center.

 

YOUTH DANCE

BEGINNER BALLET

Learn fundamental ballet movements and positioning through various exercises and games. Participants will work on developing the flexibility and strength in the muscles necessary to support ballet movement, as well as learn basic ballet feet and arm positions. Participants with no prior dance experience are welcome!

INTERMEDIATE BALLET

Building off of basic ballet vocabulary skills, participants dive into a deeper understanding of ballet technique by unfolding and practicing the concepts of functional alignment, rotation, and coordination of the arms, head and lower body. Participants also continue work on strength, flexibility and balance as they move through various exercises at the barre, in the center and across the floor.

HIP HOP DANCE

A fun, high-energy dance style that evolved as part of the hip-hop culture. Instruction includes choreography and basic moves for the novice dancer including footwork, isolations, and popping. Move and express yourself in fun new ways! No previous experience necessary.

 

ADULT DANCE

Our adult dance classes are part of our group exercise classes for participating centers. Check your center's Schedule page for availability.  


BELLY DANCING

This group class provides a great cardiovascular workout while dancing to exotic sounds and rhythms, and challenging your body to move in ways you never knew possible. All levels; beginners welcome. Belly dancing is part of our group exercise offerings that are included with your membership. 


CARDIO DANCE

A choreographed dance class using high and low impact aerobic dance moves to burn calories. Dance styles and music may vary. All levels; beginners welcome. Cardio dance is part of our group exercise offerings that are included with your membership.


URBAN LINE DANCING

A choreographed group dance class using a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows, all facing the same direction, and executing the steps at the same time. All levels; beginners welcome. Urban line dancing is part of our group exercise offerings that are included with your membership.
