Reimagining Community
Research shows, and the Y has long known, that belonging to a supportive, caring network of people where everyone belongs and feels valued, is more than just a “nice-to-have”. It’s actually essential to good health and well-being. It fosters feelings of self-worth and connectivity that are healthy for each individual and for the community as a whole.
We also know that Y membership is all about community. In fact, in today’s world, Ys are truly one of those rare places where people from all walks of life gather and connect in common purpose; feeling welcomed, supported and connected to one another.
That’s why we’re doubling down on Y membership for all as the unifying hub of Y community life.
Beginning January 1, 2023, everyone who engages with the Y, whether through our many early childhood or school-based youth programs, mentoring, swim lessons, camp, and more, will all be Y members, with full access to our Y family centers and all the many benefits which come with that.

All Roads Lead to Membership
Beginning January 1, 2023, no matter what onramp initially brings you to the Y, you and your family will be Y members and will be invited to participate fully in Y community life, where:
- Everyone can tighten family bonds
- Everyone can reap the multiple rewards of regular exercise
- Everyone can enjoy the benefits of actively participating in a safe and diverse community that welcomes and includes all
- Everyone can feel fortified through active membership in an organization that does good for each individual and for the community as a whole
Enhanced Membership Benefits
We are working hard to provide even more robust youth and family member benefits, adding to an already substantial offering for members of all ages and with varied interests and needs.

How Does this Impact You?
Currently, participation in the Y varies based on the programs you may choose to enroll in. Starting in 2023, membership in the Y will be the "glue" that connects our entire Y community, regardless of the Y program which may have been your starting point. Effective January 1, 2023, Y membership will be the singular gateway to Y community life and provide extraordinary benefits which considerably expand the value of your family’s engagement with the Y.
Your membership in the Y and all its many benefits will be the foundation for all other participation in Y programs. Everyone who accesses the Y for our wide array of programs for youth and adults – both in and out of Y family centers — will be a Y member and will have full access to all Y member benefits along with the benefits of the program(s) they also choose to be a part of.

Starting January 1, 2023, Y membership includes:
- Enrollment in skill-building youth sports such as soccer, sports mix, basketball and rock wall classes, among others

Y membership will also enable Y member-only access to Y swim lessons, day camp and sports leagues.

Youth sports is a fun way for kids to exercise, improve coordination and balance, make new friends, learn sportsmanship, and have fun! Starting January 1, 2023, Y membership includes free enrollment in our skill-building youth sports classes such as soccer, basketball, sports mix, rock wall classes, and more!
Effective January 1, 2023, enrollment in youth sports (including rock wall classes) is an exclusive free benefit of Y membership, which also includes use of all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!

The Y pioneered the practice of swim lessons over 100 years ago and has taught generations of families how to swim.
Starting January 1, 2023, Y membership will be required for access to Y Swim Lessons. Those wishing to register for swim lessons must be Y members at the time of registration and must remain members at least through the time of your program participation, though we certainly hope you will enjoy your Y membership experience and remain members for a long time to come. Y swim lessons will be an exclusive benefit of Y membership, which also includes use of all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!
Similarly, starting January 1, 2023, Y membership will be required for access to Y Sports Leagues (including Rock Wall teams). Those wishing to register for sports leagues must be Y members at the time of registration and must remain members at least through the time of program participation.

Y Preschool is a trusted early childhood education program that combines a safe and happy educational environment with an intentional, proven curriculum designed to prepare young children for kindergarten and beyond.
A Y Family Membership is included as a part of the Y Preschool experience for Y Preschool families. Starting January 1, 2023, all enrolled families, both part time and full-time, will automatically receive a Y Family membership with their Y Preschool enrollment. This includes full access to all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!
Your Y membership continues at no cost to you even during school holidays and the summer months as long as your child is enrolled in the Y Preschool program.
A Y Family Membership is an added benefit to participation in Y Preschool. It includes everyone in your household, and is at no additional cost to you. It is your gateway to Y community life and considerably expands the value of your family’s engagement with the Y.
This additional benefit is worth over $1,200 a year.

Y Head Start and Early Head Start offers qualifying families safe, effective early learning programs that not only prepare young children for success in school, but also provides meaningful support for families - all at no cost to parents.
A Y Family Membership is included as a part of the Y Head Start experience. All enrolled families automatically receive a Y Family membership with their Y Head Start and Early Head Start enrollment. This includes full access to all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!
Your Y membership continues at no cost to you even during school holidays and the summer months, provided you re-enroll in the next year’s Y Head Start or Early Head Start program by June 1st each year.

Y Before & After School Enrichment is conveniently located in over 40 elementary schools and gives children a safe and supportive space where they can finish homework, exercise, be creative, and participate in lots of fun activity choices with friends -- all while parents manage their busy work lives.
A Y Family Membership is a part of the Y Before & After School Enrichment (BASE) experience for Y BASE families. Starting January 1, 2023, all enrolled families, both part time and full-time, will automatically receive a Y Family membership with their Y BASE enrollment. This includes full access to all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!

Y Day Camp is an adventure filled with unique experiences, fun activities and new memories made with friends.
Starting January 1, 2023, enrollment in Y Day Camp will be an exclusive benefit of Y membership. You must be a Y member at the time of camp registration and you must remain a member throughout your child’s Y Day Camp enrollment, though we certainly hope you will enjoy your Y membership experience and remain members for a long time to come.
Y Day Camps include fun summer opportunities at various Y Day Camp settings across the region. When campers are away from home, there's an amazing amount of growth and development that occurs. Our ultimate overnight camp experiences inspire youth to try new things and expand their horizons. Campers begin to trust themselves more and learn they can achieve great things on their own.
Because many Y Overnight Camp families come from outside the Central Maryland region, Y membership is encouraged but is not a requirement for enrollment.

Y Out-of-School-Time after school programs are located in the Baltimore region and provide students with the safety and support needed to stay positively engaged during the critical after school hours.
Starting January 1, 2023, a Y Family Membership will be included as a part of the Y OST experience. All enrolled families will automatically receive a Y Family membership with their OST enrollment. This includes full access to all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!
Your Y membership continues at no cost to you even during school holidays and the summer months, provided you re-enroll in the next year’s Y OST program by June 15th each year.
A Y Family Membership is an added benefit to your participation in our Y Out-of-School-Time program. It includes everyone in your household, and is at no additional cost to you. It is your gateway to Y community life and considerably expands the value of your family’s engagement with the Y.

The Y supports over 15,000 students and families in 23 Community Schools in Baltimore City. A Y Community Schools Coordinator or Director is co-located at all of the schools working closely with the principal and other stakeholders to identify needs and bring services into the school which enhance learning and development for the students and their families.
Starting January 1, 2023, all Y Community School families who are not enrolled in an OST program (which includes membership) will have the option to enjoy a Y Family Membership for just $10 per month. This is a savings of $105 a month and includes full access to all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!
A Y Family Membership is a benefit to Y Community School families and includes everyone in your household for the significantly reduced rate of $10 per month. It is your gateway to Y community life and considerably expands the value of your family’s engagement with the Y.
This additional benefit is worth over $1,100 a year.

Y Mentoring is a purposeful, effective and rewarding way for families to give their children and teens extra support from a caring adult mentor and for volunteer mentors to have a direct and lasting impact on a child’s life, whether through Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Y, Y Reach & Rise, or other Y mentoring opportunities.
Starting January 1, 2023, a Y Family Membership will be included as a part of the Y mentoring experience for all mentee and mentor families. All enrolled mentor and mentee families will automatically receive a Y Family Membership to enhance their mentoring relationship.
A Y Family Membership is a benefit to Y mentor/mentee families, including everyone in your household and is at no cost to you. This includes full access to all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!
A Y Family Membership is an added benefit to participation in Y mentoring. Mentor and mentee families will maintain their membership throughout the duration of their program participation. It is your gateway to Y community life and considerably expands the value of your family’s engagement with the Y.

Maryland Y Youth & Government (Y&G) is a special program specifically designed to give high school students a hands-on lesson in how government works. Teens learn about government and the legislative process, and how to elect their own leaders, debate, legislate bills, and lobby for their vision of a better future. All high school students in the state of Maryland are welcome to participate.
Starting January 1, 2023, a Y Family Membership will be included as a part of the Y Youth & Government experience. All enrolled families will automatically receive a Y Family Membership with their Y&G enrollment. This includes full access to all 11 Y family centers in Central Maryland, Stay & Play for your little ones while you use the Y, participation in group exercise classes, enrollment in skill building youth sports classes, use of our lap and family fun pools, the best exercise equipment, gymnasiums, family game rooms, rock walls, a wide range of family programming (like Parents' Night Out), myriad opportunities to volunteer, and much more!
Your Y Family Membership continues at no cost to you throughout the duration of your program participation.
