GREAT NEWS! Due to the Harford County school calendar, we are able to offer Fun Days (additional camp days offered before or after our originally anticipated camp season) at the Ward Y in Abingdon. Daily rates are available for Fun Days so families can simply register for the days they need. Each day will have a different theme and include a full day of activities.

Traditional Day Camp (campers entering grades K-6)
Traditional Day Camp: Weeks 1-10
Traditional Day Camp provides really fun experiences for campers through a wide range of activities including water games, camp songs, arts & crafts, daily camp rallies, science experiments, sports & games, Fit 'N Fun, camp challenges, swimming, theme days, camp "holidays", journaling, character development, camp spirit traditions, and more!

- Buccaneers: Entering Grade K (age 5)

Traditional Day Camp Add-Ons (campers entering grades 1-6)
Traditional Day Camp add-ons are daily activity choices that can be added to your traditional camp day experience. When registering for camp add-ons, you must select the traditional camp week that includes the name of the add-on you want to sign up for. For example, "Week 5 Traditional Camp with Rock Wall Add-on". The add-on rates are in addition to the Traditional Day Camp rate.
Sports Mix Add-On: Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8
Enjoy a mash-up of all your favorite sports including soccer, basketball, flag football, and more.

Learn basic climbing techniques while being challenged with drills and games. We focus on safety and proper climbing skills.

FULL DAY SPECIALTY CAMPS (CAMPERS ENTERING GRADES 1-6)
SCIENCE: ANIMALS A TO ZOO, WEEKS 2 & 6
Learn about creatures big and small, dissect owl pellets, make toys for local animal shelters, and learn the essentials to caring for animals. The week includes a trip to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

SCIENCE: FARM TO TABLE, WEEK 7
Learn where food comes from and how it grows, investigate the science behind what happens in your kitchen, learn how to use fresh herbs and spices for healthy cooking, and visit a local farm to see how animals, farm lands and greenhouses all help produce our food.

Dabble in a little bit of everything as you learn new drawing, printing, sculpting, collage and mixed media techniques everyday!

Start with basic finger painting and move onto water colors, acrylics and more advanced styles. Finish the week with a paint-your-own pottery experience.

Learn the fundamentals of soccer as well as the importance of teamwork. Experience the game by playing different positions. Work on footwork to improve your game.

Travel Camps (campers entering grades 4-10)
Explorers Camp (entering grades 4-6): Weeks 1-9
Enjoy all the highlights of traditional day camp, plus travel off-site twice a week to local destinations like the movies, bowling, skating, mini golf, museums, and more!

Teen Leadership Camps (campers entering grades 7-11)
Navigators Camp (entering grades 7-9): Weeks 3/4, 5/6, 7/8
This program is service oriented where campers learn skills centered around community development. Campers work as a team to accomplish service projects at Y centers and the surrounding community under the supervision of a service leader. Opportunities to earn service learning hours for school graduation requirements are available. Navigators camp operates in 2-week sessions.

Counselor In Training Camp (entering grades 10-11): Weeks 2/3, 4/5, 6/7, 8/9
Counselor in Training (CIT) camp will help campers develop the leadership and youth development job skills needed when working with groups of children. Campers must apply for CIT camp and are selected after an interview process. Campers must be able to commit to 4 weeks of camp and a weekend training in the spring. Participation does not guarantee future employment with the Y. CIT camp operates in 2-week sessions.
