  • Adult Ballet - Learn the fundamentals and proper classical techniques of ballet through Barre work, center combinations, across the floor movements, core-strengthening exercises, flexibility, poise and musicality.
  • Beginner Ballet (ages 3-10) – Learn the fundamental ballet movements and positioning through various exercises and games. Participants will work on developing the flexibility and strength in the muscles necessary to support ballet movement, as well as learn basic ballet feet and arm positions. Participants with no prior dance experience are welcome!
  • Intermediate Ballet (ages 3-10)
  • Advanced Ballet (ages 3-10)
  • Jazz (ages 5-10)
  • Ballet/Tap Medley - In this group class, participants are introduced to ballet skills followed by tap skills; perfect for those kids who want the best of both worlds.
  • Baton Twirling - In this introductory class, students will learn baton terminology and basic twirl skills while developing hand-eye coordination and wrist flexibility. Basic dance moves are used with emphasis on proper form and hand placement. Students will also learn basic twirl combinations as well as routines.
  • Belly Dancing - This group class provides a great cardiovascular workout while dancing to exotic sounds and rhythms, and challenging your body to move in ways you never  knew possible.
  • Creative Movement - This class teaches self-expression through dance. Structured activities and exercises provide for learning progressive modern dance styles.
  • Dance Conditioning (ages 13+) - A class for young dancers focusing on building strength, increasing flexibility, and improving endurance. Utilizing plyometrics, body weight exercises and other equipment, dancers will condition their bodies to improve dance technique.
  • Hip Hop Dance (ages 3-10) - A fun, high-energy dance style that evolved as part of the hip-hop culture. Instruction includes choreography and basic moves for the novice dancer including footwork, isolations, and popping. Move and express yourself in fun new ways! No previous experience necessary.
  • Latin Dance - Swiveling hips and a sinuous rib cage characterize Latin Dance. Latin music creates an energetic rhythm with beats and accents meant for those pulse-stopping dips and turns. Originally an off-shoot of the Mambo, Salsa is the emotional connection to music and conveyance of emotion to your dance partner.
  • Tap - Tap is an Adult-based program designed to teach the fundamentals in tap dance steps and techniques. 
  • Urban Line Dance - A choreographed group dance class using a repeated sequence of steps in which a group of people dance in one or more lines or rows, all facing the same direction, and executing the steps at the same time.
  • Zumba Kids - A fun dance/fitness program designed to introduce children to international music and culture and build a positive self-image through a healthy lifestyle. Includes age appropriate songs, games and dances.

  • Beginner Tumbling - Tumbling has been proven to develop strength, flexibility, agility, control and balance. This beginner level class will focus on proper technique for forward rolls, chin rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, front walk-overs, tripod and introduction to handsprings and aerials.
  • Intermediate Tumbling - Tumbling has been proven to develop strength, flexibility, agility, control and balance. This intermediate level class will build on proper technique for forward rolls, chin rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, front walk-overs, tripod and introduction to handsprings and aerials.
  • Advanced Tumbling - A co-ed class that builds on the skills taught in Beginner and Intermediate Tumbling. Youth will work on perfecting skills such as rolls, bridges and cartwheels. They will also work to refine skills including handstands, somersaults and rounds-offs.
  • Pee Wee Tumbling/Tumble Bees - This program is a continuation of Busy Bees and helps children develop fundamental skills, body awareness and motor skills while incorporating teamwork through instructional play.
  • All-Star Cheer - This competitive cheer program emphasizes basic tumbling, stunting and arm motion technique. Team members are expected to perform, with proper training, strong jumps, motions and stunt technique, along with working connections of skills. The team will make appearances and compete within the Baltimore area, and regionally. The team will compete in 3-4 competitions. Uniform and cheer shoe purchase is required.
  • Y Cheer Skills - An introductory class to cheerleading. Classes within the session will cover motions, jumps, basic gymnastics, chants, spirit and teamwork.

At the Y, we like to mix it up! We offer a wide variety of ever-changing special activities for youth, teens, families and seniors! Youth Activities

  • Middle School Craze - Come out to the Y and have fun hanging out with your friends, playing sports, swimming, rock climbing, and more!
  • Kids Overnight - It's a night at the Y for 12 hours of FUN FUN FUN! Kids will enjoy games, swimming, gym activities, crafts, snacks, movies, and more!
  • Kids Day Out - No School? No problem! Join us at the Y for a fun day off from school with games, crafts and more!
  • Y Sports Day - No School? No problem! We have just what you need to stay active and engaged in lively activities! Join us at the Y for a fun day off from school with sports and games like soccer, sports mix, basketball and more!
  • Creative Art Mix - Embrace your creative side! Learn and recreate masterpieces by famous artists such as Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, and Alexander Calder using different artistic styles, methods and materials.
  • Paint Night - Participants complete their masterpiece by the end of the event while enjoying time with friends and making new ones! All skill levels welcome!
  • Wee Kids Club - Come join us each week for a new themed adventure with stories, crafts, music, games and more!
  • Funshops - Fun drop-in activities for youth while parents exercise. No registration necessary!
  • Parents Night Out - Parents enjoy an evening out while the kids enjoy a night at the Y! The evening will include a variety of crafts, games, a movie and healthy snack! Children must be potty trained.

Teen Activities

  • Middle School Craze - Come out to the Y and have fun hanging out with your friends, playing sports, swimming, rock climbing, and more!
  • Leaders Club - If you have a passion for doing the most good, and a willingness to get involved in your community, the Y's Leaders' Club is for you! Teens will create lifelong friendships, have fun, build self-confidence, stay active, and develop leadership skills through weekly meetings, weekend retreats and rallies, volunteer service projects, Y trainings and certifications, community outreach, and more! Leaders' Club will run throughout the academic year, beginning after Labor Day and concluding on May 31st.

Senior Activities

  • Wellness Events – Hosted in partnership with Y Health Living Partners, you can take charge of your health through monthly free health talks, screenings, nutrition information, and more. Not available at all Y Centers.
  • Senior Crafting - Gather with friends for seasonal crafting! Seniors (55+) are invited to join us in making crafts such as holiday centerpieces, wreaths and ornaments.
  • Bus Trips – Join your friends for trips to local destinations including shopping and sightseeing!
  • Crochet & Knitting - Learn crochet/knitting basics from an experienced professional or add to the techniques you've already perfected in this 7-week Crochet & Knitting program! Learn and create at your own pace with step-by-step tutorials.

New Skills and Fun for Everyone

  • Martial Arts - Learn technique, discipline and build strength through a variety of martial arts programs including Seido Karate, Isshinryu, Jujitsu, Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Tai Chi. Most programs are available to youth, teens and adults at all skill levels.
  • Family Events – Gather your family and friends for fun quality time at the Y. Join us for monthly family events and enjoy a different activity each month!
