Every non-profit says volunteers matter. At the Y of Central Maryland it goes even deeper. Here, every penny goes back into serving our community—volunteers are a very big reason that’s possible— they help make every dime go further. We can serve exponentially more kids and families because of the hard work and dedication of people who get paid not one dime for what they do.
We welcome you to join the 1,800 adults and young people who decide each day or each week that instead of playing golf or cards, instead of going to the mall to hang out, instead of watching TV, sometimes instead of doing the work they are paid for, are going to the Y or a Y program and, through hands-on help or by giving good guidance, enable hundreds of new swimmers to soar across the water, young soccer players learn the art of team play, young readers to enjoy the untold adventures of a good book, would-be Van Goghs to paint, the next Thurgood Marshall the fine points of compromise and debate .
Y volunteers are very special people, indeed. They are a large part of what makes the Y so unusual, such a warm, welcoming and rich community.
