
Robert J. Brosmer
Chief Operating Officer
Robert J. Brosmer serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Y of Central Maryland, a position he has held since 2002. Brosmer oversees all day-to-day operations for the Association, including all product segments (Health & Wellness, Sports & Camping, Childcare & Family Services), quality and risk management as well as new product development.
Brosmer has more than 26 years of experience in the health promotion, wellness and rehabilitation industry and has been a successful leader in numerous executive positions. Prior to joining the Y of Central Maryland, he served as Chief Administrative Officer for the Central Florida YMCA. He was also Executive Director of Wellness for Winter Park Health Foundation for five years. Previously, he served three years as Vice President of the Eastern Region for Health Fitness Corporation. Additionally, as president of Professional Fitness Systems, Inc., Brosmer's clients included the United States Senate, Delaware Governor Michael N. Castle, The Delaware State Police as well as Fortune 500 companies such as DuPont and Textron.
Brosmer graduated cum laude from Salisbury University, and earned a Master of Science in exercise physiology from the University of Delaware. He is a Fellow of the Association for Worksite Health Promotion and has served on numerous boards. Brosmer is the past chair for the Medical Fitness Association, from which he was honored for Distinguished Leadership in 1996. He currently is a board member for Baltimore Medical System.
He has written numerous articles on health promotion for journals, newspapers and magazines, and is the co-author of Health and High Performance (Kendall/Hunt Publishing).
Brosmer lives with his wife and two daughters in Ellicott City, Maryland. He keeps in shape by running and strength training at the various Health & Wellness Y Centers throughout Central Maryland.
