
Vice President of Human Resources
Marjorie A. Ripalda serves as the Vice President of Human Resources for the Y of Central Maryland. She is responsible for talent management and organizational development as well as oversight of the administration of benefits, compensation, legal compliance, and management consultation. Additionally, she monitors employee relations, staff recruitment, retention, and training.
Ms. Ripalda began her career with the Y in 1978. In 1985, she joined the Central Maryland Association where she has worked in Human Resources since 1994.
Prior to her current position in the Y, she was the Corporate Director of Child Care Services where she managed multi-site child care operations including budget oversight, staff recruitment and training, and program quality and expansion. As the largest provider of childcare in the state of Maryland, the Y is the foremost example of what quality childcare is. Ms. Ripalda ensured that strenuous guidelines were closely followed and high expectations were regularly met.
Before joining the Y of Central Maryland, Ms. Ripalda was the Associate Child Care Director with the Prince George’s County Y. There, she successfully established and operated the first Y mulit-site school age child care program within elementary schools throughout Prince George’s County. She was also responsible for marketing and promotion, enrollment, staffing and program start-up.
Ms. Ripalda holds a Masters Degree in Human Development from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in psychology from Hunter College in New York City. She received her Professional in Human Resources certification in 1994 and is also certified as a Y Senior Director. Additionally, Ms. Ripalda is a member of the Chesapeake Human Resources Organization, Howard County Human Resource Society, the Society for Human Resource Management, and the Association of Y Professionals. She currently resides in Laurel, MD.
