
Chief Financial Officer
Joseph M. Stella serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the Y of Central Maryland. He oversees all financial matters of the Association to ensure compliance with policies and procedures and accuracy in reporting to management, the Finance Committee, the Association's Board of Directors and other external agencies. He is responsible for cash management, budgeting, banking services and relationships, monthly reporting, and year-end audits.
Stella has been the CFO for the Y since 1999. He spearheaded the bond process and secured $16.2 million in debt financing. He also oversaw the financial management of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Center at Stadium Place, a $12.2 million, 54,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility.
Stella spent 13 years in accounting before coming to the Y. Overall, he has nearly 20 years of experience in finance. Prior to joining the Y, he spent nine years in public accounting and four years in private accounting. He was the Director of Finance with Mariner Post-Acute Network in the Mid Atlantic region. There, he successfully worked through four mergers within three years and grew the regional annual sales of $4.2 million to $16.8 million.
Previously, Stella was the Manager at Freiman, Levin, Feldman & Pollack where he was responsible for analyzing financial statements and projections for obtaining bank financing and business acquisitions.
Stella received a B.S. in Accounting and Management Information Services from Southern New Hampshire College. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Maryland and a member of the Investment Club. For recreation, Stella coaches soccer, travels and spends time with his family. He currently resides in Ellicott City.
