A community resource since 1853, the Y of Central Maryland is one of the largest human service providers in Maryland and is dedicated to developing the full potential of every individual through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. Family health & wellness programs, camps, youth and adult sports and child care are delivered through its seven health and wellness centers, and more than 100 program locations throughout Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties. The Y is the largest private provider of child care in Maryland as well as the largest provider of Head Start.
The Y of Central Maryland Baltimore County Head Start program is a non-profit, curriculum based preschool program that services the needs of low income children and their families in the Baltimore County community. We are currently seeking highly motivated professionals to work as a Family Service Workers; Ideal candidates must be an energetic, team player who has a passion for helping to build a better future for the children and families in our program; In this position you will be responsible for recruiting children and their family into our program as we strive to prepare our program's children to transition in the school system with life skills as well as serving as a liaison between Head Start families, the center, and the community; Maintain a collaborative partnership with families to establish trust and identify family goals and strengths; With the assistance of the Center Services Coordinator, you will assist the chairperson of the Center Committee with planning monthly parent meetings, arranging transportation and child care services for parents; Encourage parents to be involved in center/program activities.
Requirements
The minimum qualifications for this position is a High School Diploma or GED, and two years of experience working with children and/or adults in the Human Service or Social Work field; Ability to calculate figures such as percentages, area and discounts; Valid driver's license; Must have access to reliable transportation.
