We offer a variety of camps for all ages including youth camps, teen camps, overnight camp, specialty camps, and more! 

Youth Camps



Y Journeys camps for children entering grades K - 6 are available in three different camp settings. Campers are divided by grade and participate in age-appropriate activities. The activities available vary by camp setting.

Our "Great Outdoors" camps offer a unique camp experience in beautiful, outdoor, natural camp settings. Activities include nature hikes, outdoor camping and life skills such as pitching a tent and cooking over a fire, confidence course challenges, archery, and more. Waterfront locations add endless water fun like swimming, canoeing, crabbing, and fishing! Campers also participate in reading and journaling, and weekly themed events and/or field trips. Activities vary by location. Our "The Lodge"camps offer a variety of indoor activities including creative projects at Creation Station, skits and songs at Imagination Station, games and/or sports at Body Central, week-long projects like murals, giant puzzles, and more. Weekly swim opportunities are available and limited outdoor time is rotated throughout the day with field games and playground time. Campers also participate in reading and journaling, and weekly themed events and/or field trips. Activities vary by location.  Our "Activity Central" camps offer a variety of outdoor activities such as crafts, songs and games, sports, science projects, nature walks, and more. Water and  cooling activities occur daily. Weekly swim opportunities are available and limited indoor time is rotated throughout the day at some locations. Campers also participate in reading and journaling, and weekly themed events and/or field trips. Activities vary by location.

Teen Camps

Adventurers (entering grades 7 – 8)
Grand Adventurers (entering grades 9 – 11)
Teens travel off-site three times a week to destinations like water parks, horseback riding, miniature golf, tubing, hiking trails, movies, and paint ball! When at the Y, teens participate in camp activities like games, swimming, sports, creative workshops, and more. Team-building challenges, leadership development, and service projects roung out the week. Teens can earn up to five service learning hours towards school requirements. Prices include trips and admission fees.

Mission Adventurers (entering grades 9 – 12)
Learn new skills, explore possible career choices, and earn service learning hours. Teens receive training and hands-on experience working alongside Y Journeys camp staff in one or more camp roles. Once enrolled, teens will complete a questionnaire and be scheduled for an interview. This will help match teens with camp role(s) that best fit their interests and skills. Up to 25 hours per week may be earned for service learning credits. Mission Adventurer camp roles are available in all Y Journeys camps, including specialty camps.

Overnight Camp



Enjoy the ultimate overnight camping experience at Camp Hashawha! Located in Carroll County, Camp Hashawha offers so many exciting activities, your child won't know what to do first! Every week, overnight campers will experience:

  • hikes (including the famous mud hike)
  • swimming
  • tons of games
  • terrific food
  • crafts
  • new friendships

Each session begins on Sunday evening drop-off (unless otherwise noted). Dinner will not be served the night of drop-off, but there will be refreshments by the campfire.

Wild Wild West: Experience living in the Old West with hoedowns, a gold rush, campfires, and more!

7/8 - 7/13
Raiders of the Lost Artifact:
Hashawha campers become explorers! Set in the Amazon Jungle, watch out for wild animals, hostile natives, and the treacherous Amazon River!

7/22 - 7/27
Mud, Sweat & Glory:
Cabins are transformed into countries and campers compete to see who can get all the glory in the Hashawha Olympics!

7/29 - 8/3
Treasure Island:
Where, oh where is the treasure today?

8/12 - 8/17
Survivors:
Campers will compete in a "Survivor" meets "Minute to Win It" style challenge week!

Campers must be dropped off and picked up at Camp Hashawha.

Every effort will be made to accommodate special dietary needs.

Safety

All activities are designed with safety in mind. All Y staff are CPR and First Aid certified.

Specialty Camps


Half-day/Add-on Specialty Camps

Choose to add Summer Robotics: A Y-STEM* Pathway, to a portion of your child's camp day or register for it as a half-day, stand-alone option. Most camps take place in the morning from 9:30am - 12:30pm. Weekly sessions run three days a week. If you need camp services the remainder of the day, you must enroll your child in a youth camp program. 
*STEM: science, technology, engineering, math

Summer Robotics - Level 1, Beginner (SR1) (entering grades 3 – 6)
Enter the world of robotics with a hands-on approach to programming for beginners. Campers will assemble LEGO NXT MINDSTORM® robots with a partner or small team and then program the robot to navigate obstacles and complete simple missions. No experience necessary!

Summer Robotics - Level 2, Intermediate (SR2) (entering grades 3 – 6)
Take programming to the next level! In another hands-on approach, campers will use more advanced features of the LEGO NXT MINDSTORM® kit and programming platform. Activities include learning to use multiple and more varied sensors, incorporating functional LEGO attachments to the base robot, and more in-depth programming overall. Experience necessary (equivalent to Level 1).

Full-day Specialty Camps

Expose your child to specific areas of interest in our full-day, stand-alone specialty camps. Camp hours are 9:00am - 4:00pm with free extended hours available.

STEM Extravaganza (STM) (entering grades 3-6)
For the true science enthusiast! Build and program LEGO NXT MINDSTORM® robots, explore atom models, build a balloon rocket, engineer a boat, and design a flinker (an object that neither floats nor sinks). Activities are combined with fun fitness and game challenges! Only available at Ridgeway Elementary in Severn, MD and Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ellicott City, MD.

Creative Showcase (entering grades 1-6)
Choose a full production showcase (3 weeks) and/or a mini showcase (1 week). Led by Drama Learning Center specialists; supported by Y Journeys staff. All camps culminate in a star-studded performance!

FULL PRODUCTION SHOWCASES (3 weeks)

  • Aladdin Jr. (ALD) - Aladdin, Princess Jasmine, Genie and others have returned for this stage adaptation of the hit Disney film, Aladdin! Campers will enjoy performing this magical story and award-winning music, including "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me"!
     
  • Camp Rock (CR) - Campers will fire up the stage in Disney's Camp Rock: The Musical! Show you have what it takes to hang with your fellow camp rockers. Songs include "We Rock", "It's On", and more.


MINI SHOWCASES (1 week)

  • Glee Week (GW) - Campers will sing and dance their way to the stars as they perform songs from the hit show. A great camp for "gleeks" or campers who just love to sing!
     
  • Superheroes Week (SH) - Campers will explore, create and act out their favorite superhero stories! Design your own superhero costume and logo. 
     
  • Hakuna Matata Week (HM) - Campers will have "no worries for the rest of thier days" as they sing and perform scenes about their favorite king of the lions and friends! Make a mask of your favorite character, create new scenes, and more.

Campers for full production showcases must register for each of the 3 weeks.

Mad Science® (entering grades 1 – 5)
Led by Mad Science® specialists and Y Journeys staff. Campers will experience the ultimate in edutainment!

  • Science in Motion (SIM) - Discover how things move with science! Join a team of camper engineers and build bridges, domes, cubes, and pyramids. Make your own sidewalk chalk, crystal gardens, and chromatography-dyed tee shirts.
  • Crime Scene & Chemistry (CSC) - Learn how the science behind life can help you solve a crime! Experience blood pumping through the heart and air moving through the lungs. Use ooey-gooey ingredients to build a model cell and use your own traits to decode and decipher your DNA.

Summer Learning for Preschoolers



Early childhood summer learning and summer fun is available for little ones to run, play and experience their own summer magic! Age-appropriate activities include arts & crafts, science experiments, nature walks, cooking projects, sports, field trips, water activities, and more!
