The Y has a rich history of supporting children and families with resources, programs and expertise that strengthens communities. Additionally, the Y’s history of innovative programming has shaped many of today’s traditions. Here are a few facts about the Y that may enlighten you!

  • The Y impacts over 140,000 lives each year throughout Central Maryland, inclusive of Baltimore City and Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, and Howard Counties.
  • The Y is largest provider of licensed childcare in the state of Maryland offering preschool, enrichment before & after school and day camp programs.
  • With over 66,000 members, the Y is the largest health & wellness provider in Central Maryland.
  • Ninety-two of survey respondents in Central Maryland say that their “community is a better place because of the Y”.
  • In 2010, 3,800 children had a Y camp experience; 12% (roughly 658 children) of whom received financial assistance to attend totaling over $104,000 awarded.
  • In 2010, over $479,000 was awarded in financial assistance to children and families in need of quality preschool and before & after school enrichment services they otherwise couldn’t afford.
